Trip Photos
Ambler River
6 friends and I flew to Lake Matcharak, Gates of the Arctic National Park, to hike through Nakmaktuak Pass and into the Ambler River headwaters. We then packrafted to the village of Ambler. I carried with me the Canon EOS R5 with a Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM.
Wrangell Mountains
From Skolai Pass to the Frederika Glacier, to the Rohn Glacier, to the headwaters of the Nizina River and back to McCarthy with Kevin, Iris, Constance, and Myself. I shot these photos with a Canon EOS R through an RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM.
Kuiu Island
John and I packed enough food for 10 or 12 days and hopped on the ferry with our sea kayaks. We paddled apx. 200 miles from Kake, AK to Petersburg, AK by way of Kuiu Island, portaging twice through the heart of the island, and making a stop at the remote Cape Decision Lighthouse. I packed the Canon EOS R5 and the RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM.
Aniakchak Caldera
The Aniakchak Caldera is 6 miles wide containing smaller volcanoes and craters. It blew up most recently in 1931. After exploring the volcano, we packrafted to the Gulf coast and looked for dinosaur footprints and rare orchids. Ben, Sarah, Heidi, Teal, and myself. Photos taken with a Canon EOS R on a RF 28-70mm F2 L USM.
The John river
Sarah, Sarah, Ariel, Ben, Nick and I flew to Anaktuvuk Pass, AK and floated The John River to Bettles. It was a bit smokey, so this album has a hazy attitude. The John River is a low stress paddle through the Brooks Range, flowing South into the interior. We hit this one over 4th of July. Photos taken with a Canon EOS R5 through an RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM.
ANWR
Hannah, Dan, Cheyenne, and I marched up the Ribdon River, got wailed on by weather, diverted into the mountains, found some other way to float toward the Ivishak River, and made it back to the Haul Road. This is the Brooks Range, East of the Dalton Highway, north facing drainages. This was shot with a Canon EOS 6D and EF 24-105mm F4.
